Jackass 3.5 is an extended version to Jackass 3D, which is composed of footage shot during the filming of Jackass 3D that was never used, while including interviews from cast and crew (similar to 3.5's predecessor, Jackass 2.5). On January 27, 2011, the first trailer was released online. In September 2010, Johnny Knoxville had reported that the film could be ready for a Christmas 2010 DVD release, but it was reported in late October that the film will not be released until after Christmas.
In a interview conducted prior to Jackass 3-D's theatrical release, Johnny Knoxville said, "We shot two movies worth of material... so we're coming out with a whole new DVD in January. 3.5 will be all of the great stuff that didn't make it.
The Dickhouse website announced that Jackass 3.5 would be released sometime in March 2011 with the website streaming the movie "in episodic chunks—like vomit!—on the Interweb in March 2011 with a full feature-length assemblage soon to follow." The weekly episodes will be shown on Joost, beginning on April Fools' Day. The collected feature-length movie will then be released on VOD and DVD. It is still unknown when the DVD will be released.
